"Guest Speakers"

So, being both a "floating" and "permenant representative" I think I'm having such a great expereince here in Chicago.

Today I expereinced something really cool, in various committiees I was in today they had role playing "Guest experts" in one committiee it was someone who was an expert on Small Arms Trade, another was from the world bank and talked about their STAR program which is about stolen goods recovery, and the final one was from an agency in place to help countries become more transparent in their dealings. I assumed these were planned and the people had tons of time to prepare (they knew their stuff)

Well... because I'm the perm rep I got to go to a meeting with Dr. Jones tonight that addressed questions and concerns about the conference. Come to find out that anyone in a committiee can request an expert on anything that applies to the debates and if it's approved, someone from the AMUN Home country staff finds out all they can and becomes that person. It's a very cool system. And a great way to clear things up during debate from a third party source.

That's all for now, we're breaking for dinner before another late night of debate and cacusing.
